Size guide

Every size is named for your baby's height in centimetres, not their age. A size 80 is cut for a baby around 80 cm tall. Measure them head to heel and use that number first — age is only a rough guide, because babies of the same age vary a lot.

Find the size

  • Size 60 — for a baby around 60 cm / 23.5 in · usually 0-3 months
  • Size 70 — for a baby around 70 cm / 27.5 in · usually 3-6 months
  • Size 80 — for a baby around 80 cm / 31.5 in · usually 6-12 months
  • Size 90 — for a baby around 90 cm / 35.5 in · usually 12-18 months
  • Size 100 — for a baby around 100 cm / 39.5 in · usually 18-24 months

The number is your baby's height, not the length of the suit. The suit is cut with room on top of that number.

Between two sizes? Go up

A little room is better than a costume that will not zip over a onesie, and the elasticated cuffs at the wrists and ankles take up the extra length. A suit that is slightly big still photographs well. One that is slightly small does not go on at all.

How to measure

Lay your baby on their back on a flat surface. Mark where the top of the head is and where the heels are with the legs gently straightened, then measure between the two marks. If your baby already stands, measure them against a wall without shoes.

Ordering for a baby you will not see first

If this is a gift and you do not know their height, order by the age bracket above and size up if they are between two. Anything that does not fit is covered by our 30-day policy — email us and we will sort it out.

Still not sure?

Email thelunaby@gmail.com with your baby's height and weight and we will tell you which size to take. A person answers, usually the same day.

The flat measurements of each size — chest, body length and sleeve, taken with the garment laid flat — are being confirmed with our maker and will be added to this page before the season opens.
